CONSIDERATIONS FOR MICROGRIDS WITH DISSIMILAR ENERGY SOURCES

September 3, 2022

CONSIDERATIONS FOR MICROGRIDS
As more renewable energy sources and battery storage
units are specified and incorporated into power systems,
consultant specifying engineers are faced with many
challenges which could impact the overall design and
performance of these solutions. This paper outlines and
addresses some of these challenges to aid in the system
design, explains some common components found in
microgrids, and discusses the value of an advanced
microgrid controller for system operation

The “No-Excuse” Framework to Accelerate the Path to Net-Zero Manufacturing and Value Chains

whitePaper | January 5, 2023

While many leading companies have already started their journey towards achieving net-zero emissions – namely, cutting their greenhouse gas emissions as much as possible and balancing the remaining by removing it from the atmosphere – no single business can reach net zero by itself. Systemic collaboration across and between value chains is fundamental to aligning and upgrading corporate strategies and industrial policies, and all stakeholders – even competitors – can find mutual benefit in ensuring their industries can continue operating in the future.

THE BUSINESS OF STANDALONE GRID-SCALE ENERGY STORAGE

whitePaper | January 16, 2020

In 1800, Alessandro Volta invented the first battery, which came to be known as the voltaic pile. It was the first device to provide a steady supply of energy. Batteries have come a long way since then. In the 1970s, lithium-ion batteries were commercialized for the first time. Now they are a crucial component in revolutionizing and enabling continued renewable penetration on the US electrical grid.

Decarbonizing heavy-duty trucking and accelerating the European hydrogen economy

whitePaper | March 28, 2022

The role of hydrogen as a key decarbonisation tool has become the subject of significant international interest. Over 30 countries have published hydrogen roadmaps, industry has announced over 200 hydrogen projects, and governments worldwide have committed more than USD70 billion in public funding.1 Hydrogen is a uniquely versatile fuel that can be used in a range of applications as a replacement for fossil fuels. Low-carbon hydrogen has come to be seen as a vital energy carrier for hard-to-abate sectors – where decarbonisation faces technical, operational and economic obstacles, such as the steel and heavy-duty trucking industries
