The confectionery giant, which runs its own gas-fired power plant near its factory in northern Italy, is in early talks to help finance a new clean energy plant, possibly a solar farm in the sunnier south, according to three sources familiar with the matter.Like other companies in Europe, Ferrero is under growing pressure from investors and authorities to shift toward greener energy. But without enough wind or sunshine on its doorstep to provide a renewable alternative, it’s looking to a new financial derivative known as a virtual power-purchase agreement. These complex contracts are effectively insurance policies for renewable project developers against the risk of falling power prices, with the premiums paid by companies like Ferrero to support sustainable energy even though they remain plugged into fossil fuels.

Here are the Best Ways to Optimize Your Solar Power

Article | April 8, 2020

Let’s take a look at the common case. It’s not a secret that we charge our devices for work or study at the office or at uni. When we are asked to do everything from home, we must use our own electricity to power our essential devices for work. Without even realizing, we also need to turn on the heater or AC to keep ourselves in comfortable temperature. Plus, there will be a time when we are tempted to turn on the TV, Xbox or PlayStation, for fun. In short, the more power we consume, the more expensive the bill we will pay! If we rely on solar energy, our system will get us covered. During the day, our solar PV will produce the most electricity we use at home. So, even if we are spending all day working or studying, we won’t need to pay more for our electricity. Yet, to make sure we can save money as much as possible, we must do it right. To make it easier, our team at Solar Arena has collected the best tips you can follow:

Solar Power, Great For The Environment? Or Is It The Last Thing We Need?

Article | February 10, 2020

Solar power is an undeniably a green, renewable form of electricity generation - but many organisations with questionable motives (even here in New Zealand) are trying to persuade the public (and Government – hi lobbyists!) that solar power isn’t that environmentally friendly, and that it's even harmful. At the expense of bullish corporate profits, solar power is often thrown under the bus. This article lists the facts - putting an end to the negative spin on solar so often found in the media. When solar panels produce power, they do not; create any air pollution, use zero water, create carbon emissions, noise pollution, and they won’t disturb surrounding ecosystems. Solar power is a renewable energy source, the sun’s rays are infinite, fill your boots.

Article | April 1, 2020

With the onslaught of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, we are all experiencing an unprecedented time. As the global economy wrestles with defining which industries and businesses are essential and non-essential, the United States has determined that construction, manufacturing and energy are essential businesses. Many companies and jobs within the solar industry fall into construction, manufacturing or energy, and in some cases all three categories. At Quest Renewables, we have outlined how we can limit interruptions to our supply chain during the current atmosphere. Our hope is that you will find this information helpful.

Solar Greenhouses Generate Electricity & Grow Crops At The Same Time…

Article | March 9, 2020

The first crops of tomatoes and cucumbers grown inside electricity-generating solar greenhouses were as healthy as those raised in conventional greenhouses, signaling that “smart” greenhouses hold great promise for dual-use farming and renewable electricity production. “We have demonstrated that ‘smart greenhouses’ can capture solar energy for electricity without reducing plant growth, which is pretty exciting,” said Michael Loik, professor of environmental studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and lead author on a paper that appears in the current issue of the American Geophysical Union’s journal Earth’s Future.
