CAM Integrated Solutions | February 03, 2023
On February 2, 2023, CAM Integrated Solutions, LLC, announced its partnership with Amp Americas, a renewable natural gas (RNG) leader that produces carbon-negative fuels and feedstocks from dairy farm waste. CAM will deliver engineering support for several Amp Americas RNG production development projects, including one of the biggest animal waste-to-RNG projects to date, as well as micro plants to make RNG viable for smaller dairy farms, as part of the partnership.
Amp Americas operates and owns one of the country's most extensive portfolios of ultra-low carbon intensity RNG facilities. The company anticipates producing approximately 12-million-gallon equivalents of RNG and generating nine million kilowatt-hours of electricity in 2023.
CAM understands the changing energy market and brings a lean 'midstream mentality' to the next generation of energy. Amp Americas has benefited from CAM's wide range of fully integrated service offerings over the past year, and it will continue to provide comprehensive project delivery services as the companies advance the renewable industry.
Craig Pierrotti, CEO of CAM, states, "Our partnership was founded on both aligned core values and a joint mission to support the transition to renewable energy. We are eager to support Amp as they continue to pave the way in the RNG space."

Form Energy, Inc | January 30, 2023
Form Energy, Inc., an American technology company developing and selling a new class of economic, multi-day energy storage systems, recently announced that it had signed definitive agreements to install its iron-air battery systems at two of Xcel Energy's retiring coal plant sites. The storage technology will enable Xcel Energy to incorporate more low-cost, renewable energy into its structure while maintaining reliability as it retires coal plants and transitions to a more renewable future in the coming years.
The Sherburne County Generating Station, located in Becker, Minnesota, will receive a 10 MW / 1,000 MWh multi-day storage system from Xcel Energy-Minnesota. The Comanche Generating Station, based in Pueblo, Colorado, will also deploy a 10 MW / 1,000 MWh multi-day storage system provided by Xcel Energy-Colorado. Both projects are scheduled to begin construction in 2025 and depend on regulatory approvals from their respective states.
Form Energy and Xcel Energy worked together on comprehensive modeling with FormwareTM, Form Energy's next-generation operational and investment modeling tool for power grids. This modeling aided Xcel Energy in validating how Form's multi-day storage will improve Xcel Energy's ability to integrate many renewable resources, such as wind, into its system reliably and cost-effectively. Furthermore, this analysis demonstrated that Form Energy's 100-hour iron-air battery technology would protect the grid from normal weather variability on a day-to-day basis, as well as extreme weather events such as severe winter storms and polar vortex events.
Co-Founder and CEO of Form Energy, Mateo Jaramillo, shared, "Xcel Energy operates across some of the richest wind-resource areas in North America. We're very pleased to work with the Xcel Energy team to maximize use of its renewable generation by providing a technology solution that will ensure their customers benefit from reliable and cost-effective service year-round. This partnership highlights Xcel Energy's commitment to ensuring grid resiliency and reliability, energy security, and access to low-cost clean energy when and where it is needed – every day of the year."

Longroad Energy | January 23, 2023
Longroad Energy, a renewable energy owner, developer, and operator, recently announced the completion of financing and the start of construction for Sun Streams 3, a 285 MWdc PV and 215 MWac / 860 MWh storage project based in Maricopa County, Arizona. The biggest solar and storage project in Longroad's operational portfolio, Sun Streams 3, is anticipated to start commercial operations in 2024.
The project connects to the grid at the Hassayampa switchyard, a notable transmission hub in the western United States. Sun Streams 3 will increase Arizona's electrical capacity and system reliability. Arizona Public Service (APS) will also purchase the project's entire output, sufficient to power 90,000 homes, through a long-term Power Purchase Agreement.
Early in 2021, Longroad bought Sun Streams 3 from First Solar as part of a larger deal involving several Arizona projects, such as the 200 MWdc Sun Streams 2 solar project, operational since 2021, and additional projects that are still under development. First Solar continues its successful partnership by providing Series 6+ solar modules to Longroad for the Sun Streams 3 project. The project is expected to commission more than 300 people during construction.
The project's EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contractor will be McCarthy Building Companies, with Powin, an energy storage platform provider, delivering the 215 MW/ 860 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). In addition, the project will use trackers from Nextracker and solar inverters from SunGrow. Longroad's affiliate Longroad Energy Services, along with Powin and NovaSource, will offer comprehensive operations and maintenance services for the project.
Sun Streams 3 will prevent 460,000 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions each year, the same as taking 100,000 cars off the road for the project's duration.
Through long-term leases with the Arizona State Land Department, Sun Streams 3 will bring in more than $65 million for Arizona schools. Longroad expresses gratitude to Maricopa County and the Arizona State Land Department for their ongoing assistance and cooperation in the planning and execution of the Sun Streams projects.
