Acciona Acquires 4 GW Solar Plus Storage Projects in the US

Acciona will acquire a portfolio of solar projects worth 3,000 MW and an additional 1.000 MW in battery storage from Tenaska in the US Spanish infrastructure and renewable energy conglomerate, Acciona has announced that it has signed an agreement with the US-based company Tenaska to acquire a portfolio of solar PV projects in seven states across the country. The portfolio comprises approximately 3,000 megawatts (MW) of rated power in utility-scale solar plants and an additional 1.000 MW capacity of battery storage. The transaction covers 20 projects located in the States of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri, within the scope of the PJM Interconnection and Southwest Power Pool (SPP) markets. “This operation represents an opportunity for Acciona to increase our commitment to renewable energy and sustainability in the United States through photovoltaic and energy storage technology, after the investments we have already made in wind power”, said Rafael Esteban, Acciona’s Energy Division director, North America. “We will materialise a large part of the projects between 2021 and 2023.”

Hover Energy, LLC announced it has entered into an agreement with Task Contract Solutions Limited in which Task will be its exclusive partner in the sale, installation, and support of Hover Wind-Powered Microgrids in the United Kingdom. Hover and Task have been collaborating over the past year on several planned installations at exclusive, consequential sites, including projects for the UK Ministry of Defence. This agreement establishes a formal partnership and gives Task exclusive distribution and installation rights for the UK Market. The Hover Wind-Powered Microgrid features a combination of wind and solar energy generation. The centerpiece of the microgrid is Hover's patented 36kW wind turbine, which is roughly the size of a 10-foot shipping container. Installed in an array on the windward edge of a building's roof, the system's aerodynamic design draws in and accelerates wind that hits the building. A direct drive generator reduces friction and lowers the cut-in speed. An adjoining solar photovoltaic array complements the turbines, generating power during daylight hours. The energy captured by both sources is directed to an Integrated Energy Management System (IEMS), where the energy is combined, conditioned, and converted to three-phase AC power. The IEMS connects directly to the building management system. Excess power, such as unused power generated at night, can be stored in electrical batteries for later use. The Hover Wind-Powered Microgrid has the potential to offset 100% of a building's power consumption when combined with solar photovoltaic technology and electrical battery storage systems. GNG's Greener Life® Initiative Life Crosses 100 Million Pounds of Carbon Emission Offset

Georgia Natural Gas® (GNG) announced today that its Greener Life® program, which assists customers in making their natural gas usage carbon neutral, has reached a program milestone of 100 million pounds of carbon emissions offset. This equates to more than 110 million miles driven by a typical gasoline-powered passenger automobile. "We want to thank our over 18,000 loyal customers who chose Greener Life to manage their carbon footprint. Together, we offset 100 million pounds of carbon dioxide from the environment, and in celebration of that achievement and in time for World Environment Day, GNG will offset an additional 10 million pounds." -Keith Gallagher, Director of Mass Markets at GNG, a natural gas marketer World Environment Day, which has been observed annually on June 5th since 1974 and is coordinated by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), is observed by millions of people all over the world. This year's theme is # OnlyOneEarth, which advocates for global environmental reform.Greener Life helps thousands of Georgians join this effort and work together by giving customers the tools they need to reduce their carbon footprint. When clients sign up for Greener Life, GNG estimates their projected monthly greenhouse gas emissions from natural gas use and acquires and retires carbon offsets to offset the effects of those emissions. Customers can rest assured that their natural gas usage will have no effect on the amount of greenhouse emissions released into the atmosphere. GNG collaborates with Georgia's Wolf Creek Landfill Project and Tennessee's Doe Mountain Forest Improvement Project. The major certification program for voluntary carbon offset projects is Green-e Climate.

Dynamic Energy and Soltage Partner to Deliver One of Albertsons Companies' Largest Solar Assets

Dynamic Energy Solutions, LLC today announced that it has achieved financial close and commenced construction of a 6.6 Megawatts (MW) DC ground-mounted solar array in Norridgewock, Maine. The project includes a landmark offtake agreement with Albertsons Companies, Inc. (NYSE: ACI), and it is one of the first and largest commercial solar installations in Maine's burgeoning solar market. Once fully operational, the 6.6 MW system is expected to annually generate more than 8.5 million kilowatt hours of clean, renewable energy for many of Albertsons Cos. Shaw's store locations throughout the Central Maine Power utility territory.
