EVLO and Wildstone to Partner

EVLO Energy Storage Inc., an energy storage company and subsidiary of Hydro-Québec, has recently announced its partnership with Wildstone Construction Group, a general contracting group, and Skyfire Energy, a leading provider of solar panel installation services, to deliver Summerland's first utility-scale solar installation that utilizes battery energy storage system (BESS) technology. This technology will extend the system's output into hours with the greatest energy demand.

The project includes a 0.4 MW solar array, 4 EVLO 1000 battery energy storage units, and a proprietary EMS control system that will provide a total storage capacity of 4 MWh. The storage system will allow for peak shaving, minimizing short-term demand spikes and reducing peak loads, lowering the overall cost of demand charges. In addition, the solar installation will be geo-ballasted, eliminating the need for ground anchors or concrete during construction, thereby reducing the project's carbon footprint.

EVLO's industry expertise and battery technology are based on Hydro-Québec's decades of research and development on battery materials, holding hundreds of patents in the field. The company is uniquely qualified to develop products and services that meet the specific requirements of utilities and independent power producers due to Hydro-Québec's experience in the control, operation, and simulation of electric power systems.

Sonia St-Arnaud, President and CEO at EVLO, stated, "We are honored to support this green energy initiative that stems from the district's vision. As our first solar plus storage installation in Western Canada, EVLO is proud to work alongside Wildstone to provide our leading energy storage solutions and industry expertise for this first-of-its-kind project for the Summerland region." She adds, "As we celebrate our second anniversary, this project builds upon our rapidly growing portfolio as we expand into markets throughout North America and abroad."

HIF Global Partners Siemens Energy for Electrolyzer Supply

HIF Global | March 09, 2023

HIF Global, an eFuels company, reached an agreement with Siemens Energy, allowing Siemens Energy to expand its electrolyzer manufacturing capacity more than its previously announced plans. Through this agreement, it will obtain a specific capacity of electrolyzers for the HIF Matagorda eFuels facility. This agreement would make the HIF Matagorda eFuels facility the world-scale eFuels facility in Texas. It will aggregate approximately 1.8 gigawatts of capacity electrolyzers, annually supporting about 300,000 tonnes of green hydrogen production. Both companies work in front-end engineering and design for about 1.8 GW of Silyzer 300 polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) electrolyzers. These electrolyzers will utilize renewable energy to isolate hydrogen gas from water molecules, producing around 300,000 tonnes of hydrogen gas per year. The green hydrogen is combined with recycled carbon dioxide to produce carbon-neutral eFuels chemically similar to fuels. Without any modifications, these can support the existing engines. The products of the HIF Matagorda eFules facility, i.e., green hydrogen and eFuels, will convert about half a million cars to carbon neutral in 2027. CEO of HIF Global, Cesar Norton Sacre said, "We face a time of incredible expansion in hydrogen production amid global supply chain challenges. The agreement with Siemens Energy allows for electrolyzer deliveries which could support the start of construction as early as the first part of 2024 for the HIF Matagorda eFuels Facility. We look forward to starting construction at the pioneering Texas green hydrogen and eFuels facility, with Siemens Energy's industry leading electrolyzer design and manufacturing strength." (Source – Cision PR Newswire) SVP of Sustainable Energy Systems at Siemens Energy, Stefano Innocenzi said, "Hydrogen and powerto-X applications such as eFuels will play a key role in the energy transition. To ramp up this new industry, we need many projects, including large-scale ones, and investors and off-takers who are willing to make a promise for the future. These agreements give us planning certainty, creating the basis for ramping up the technology and the industry as a whole." (Source – Cision PR Newswire) About HIF Global Headquartered in Houston, Texas, HIF Global, a renewable energy and power generation company, has been developing projects for eFuels in Chile, the USA, Australia and EMEA since 2019. It strives for decarbonization and against climate change by producing eco-friendly gas and fuels. It produces carbon-neutral liquid fuels, eFuels, which can replace fossil fuels required in cars, ships and airplanes without technological modifications. Its wholly-owned subsidiaries are HIF Chile, HIF USA, HIF Asia Pacific, and HIF EMEA. It teams up with professionals from diverse backgrounds in business, engineering, legal, finance, and environmental fields and works on projects for developing, financing, building and operating energy infrastructure.

Braya Renewable Fuels Issues Letter of Support to ABO Wind

Braya Renewable Fuels LP | March 13, 2023

Braya Renewable Fuels LP, an oil and gas company, has recently issued an exclusive letter of support to ABO Wind company for the joint development of green hydrogen production. It would promote ABO Wind's project proposal in 'Crown Land Call for Bids for Wind Energy Projects,' an initiative of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. In November 2022, it issued a request for proposals of about 35,000 metric tons of green hydrogen production annually, which is needed for its advanced biofuel refinery. It recognized its requirement for large quantity hydrogen and unique access to deep water logistic assets. It has also invited respondents to submit proposals for large-scale production of green hydrogen and ammonia that would satisfy the needs of the global marketplace. ABO Wind proposed an integrated project providing green hydrogen to fulfill Braya's requirement and green ammonia for export worldwide, and Braya issued a non-binding letter of support to ABO Wind's project. It believes in the success of the project in the competitive process. CEO of Braya Renewable Fuels, Frank Almaraz said, "Of the many strong proposals we received from around the world, we have selected ABO Wind for its demonstrated ability to manage large scale infrastructure developments, its significant experience in developing renewable energy projects, and our shared vision of producing green hydrogen and green ammonia to serve global markets." He added, "We are confident that together with ABO Wind, we can build on the tremendous momentum at our Come By Chance refinery." (Source – Cision PR Newswire) About Braya Renewable Fuels LP Headquartered in Come By Chance, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, Braya Renewable Fuels LP, a refinery, aspires to become one of the largest renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel production facilities in the world. Its refinery is in the conversion project process. It employs employees from different countries, backgrounds and cultures for global business. Previously, it was known as North Atlantic Refinery (NARL). It was named 'Braya' after the two endangered artic-alpine flowering plant species, Long's Braya and Fernald's Braya, mostly found in the Great Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland. These unique species adapt to the extreme climate conditions, and natural processes need to survive in the coastal limestone barrens of the Strait of Belle Isle.
