Facebook, McDonald's reps sign wind turbine being installed in Coke County

The project is also the largest single-phase, single-site wind project in the United States, the release from Apex Clean Energy notes. Roughly 150 people gathered at the Star Ranch, roughly 15 miles north of San Angelo on Highway 87, to celebrate the project's construction and sign a 200-foot-long turbine blades that will soon be installed at the facility. “While we are not here to commemorate a groundbreaking exactly — construction is already well under way — what we are here to celebrate is certainly ground-breaking,” said Mark Goodwin, Apex president and CEO. “Aviator Wind is the embodiment of our mission: accelerating the shift to clean energy. This milestone would not have been possible without the partnership of the Coke County community, the leadership of companies like McDonald’s, Facebook, and Ares, and the dedication of the Aviator Wind team in bringing this project to fruition.” Aviator Wind is a 525 megawatt wind energy project owned by Ares Infrastructure and Power. Apex Clean Energy developed the project, is managing its construction, and will operate the project on behalf of its owners, the news release states.
