TerraPower announces plan to invest in domestic advanced nuclear fuel production to ensure U.S.-based fuel supply for advanced reactors

TerraPower announced today its plans to team with Centrus Energy Corp. (NYSE American: LEU) to establish commercial-scale, domestic production capabilities for high-assay, low-enriched uranium (HALEU), which will be needed to fuel many next-generation reactor designs including the recently announced Natrium™ Power Storage System designed by TerraPower and GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy. The proposed investment is part of the TerraPower-led proposal for the U.S. Department of Energy's Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program (ARDP), which is intended to support the deployment of two first-of-a-kind advanced reactor designs in the next five to seven years.

JERA Americas Acquires El Sauz Wind Project in Texas from Apex Clean Energy

JERA Americas, the Houston-based subsidiary of global energy leader JERA Co. (JERA), has acquired a 100% interest in the El Sauz Wind Power Project from Apex Clean Energy, the original developer. The approximately 300 megawatt (MW) project, located in Willacy County, Texas, is expected to begin construction in early 2022 and begin operating in the last quarter of the year. Wanzek Construction, Inc. will serve as the balance of plant contractor for the project. JERA plans to be a global leader in renewable energy and zero CO2 emission electricity and has announced a 5 gigawatt (GW) goal for renewable energy projects by 2025 and to achieve net zero CO2 emissions by 2050. JERA Americas established a renewable energy business in 2020 and plans to contribute approximately 2 GW toward achievement of the 5 GW global goal. The transaction marks the first renewable energy investment by JERA in the United States. Dominion Energy Utah Introduces a New Program to Help Customers Reduce Their Carbon Footprint

CarbonRight is now available to Dominion Energy customers in Utah and Idaho. CarbonRight is a novel and affordable solution for customers to reduce their carbon impact dramatically. Customers will offset carbon emissions associated with natural gas use in their homes or company by contributing to projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, including those in Utah. The program is entirely voluntary and is open to all home users and companies, public buildings, and schools. Customers can contribute by purchasing carbon offsets in $5 increments on their monthly payment. A typical residential user can offset their entire carbon footprint by purchasing one $5 block per month, or $60 per year, achieving "net zero" carbon emissions from natural gas usage. Dominion Energy does not benefit from the carbon offset program and does not mark up the cost of the offsets.
