EUROPE'S RENEWABLE ENERGY DIRECTIVE

On November 30th 2016, the European Commission adopted a revised Renewable Energy Directive. It is an update of the framework for renewable energy development, to reach the 2030 target of 27% renewable energy. The revision focuses on 6 areas of action. Electricity is the form of energy most easy to decarbonise. By 2030, 50% of our electricity should be renewable. Support schemes must become cost-effective and market-oriented.
