AEP ditches plans for 100-MW wind farm in Michigan

US utility American Electric Power Company Inc (NYSE:AEP) has abandoned plans for the construction of a 100-MW wind farm in Michigan, the Muskegon Chronicle reports, citing a company official. The so-called Kenowa Ridge Wind Farm Project was proposed last year by Sempra Energy’s (NYSE:SRE) renewables business, which AEP acquired earlier in 2019. Melissa McHenry, director of external communications at AEP, told the daily that the company has decided the scheme is no longer viable and will not proceed with its development. The reasons behind the move include “stringent restrictions” on part of the turbine site in Casnovia Township.
