CleanChoice Energy Enables Takoma Park Customers To Go Solar

CleanChoice Energy, a company empowering residential and commercial customers to cut emissions and support clean energy, has been chosen by the City of Takoma Park, Md., to supply customers with wind and solar power on an opt-in basis. The new partnership reflects Takoma Park’s commitment to reducing greenhouse-gas emissions citywide: The city, which is a suburb of Washington, D.C., has long purchased wind energy through renewable energy credits for its own operations, and in 2014, it adopted a Sustainable Energy Action Plan with 17 key strategies to reduce emissions. In 2016, the Mayor Kate Stewart signed the Global Covenant of Mayors and, in 2017, pledged to uphold the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement. Now, the city is helping local residents and businesses to reduce their own carbon footprint by making the switch to clean energy.
