Duke inks 160MW Oklahoma power sale

Duke Energy Renewables is to supply US communications giant AT&T under a virtual power purchase agreement with 160MW of electricity from the 350MW Frontier 2 wind farm in Oklahoma. The project, which is located in Kay County, will feature 74 Nordex 4.8MW turbines and is expected to be operational by December 2020. It will create about 250 jobs during construction, which is underway and is being carried out by Wanzek Construction. Amshore US Wind provided development support for the project. Duke previously signed a 15-year VPPA with Ball Corporation for 161MW from Frontier 2. Duke Energy Renewables president Rob Caldwell said: “Frontier 2 will deliver clean energy for Oklahoma and significant economic benefits to the area. “We're pleased to be working with AT&T and Ball Corporation on the Frontier 2 project, which will be located in an area that has some of the best wind resources in the country.”
