East Penn Manufacturing produces 160,000 automotive batteries per day at its plant near Lyons, the most prolific facility of its kind in the world. But as demand for renewable energy rises across the United States, Berks County's largest employer also strives to become the innovator and leader of new technologies. "East Penn is primarily a lead battery company," said Chris Pruitt, president and CEO of East Penn Manufacturing. "We think lead will be here for a long, long period of time — but there's a lot of research and development going on in regard to lithium and other chemistries today." Speaking at the World Affairs Council of Greater Reading breakfast on Wednesday, Pruitt indicated the company behind the Deka brand is a long way from a seismic shift in a business model that generated $2.8 billion in annual revenue.

Zendure Welcomes Jim Haflinger as Chief Technical Advisor

Zendure USA Inc. announced that it has hired Jim Haflinger to the role of Chief Technical Advisor. As the Silicon Valley portable charger company expands into the sustainable energy sector, Haflinger will lend his decades of electrical engineering experience to Zendure's research and development team. Prior to joining Zendure, Jim Haflinger was a Senior Principal Engineer at Nortek, where for 11 years he designed many products for home automation, security, personal safety, and solar backup power. He served Kodak for over six years as a Lead Electrical Engineer for the company's printer division, designing printheads and multi-protocol interfaces. The role had him coordinating product design and manufacturing in Europe, Asia, and the United States. He was also the engineering representative for the Customer Experience team to make the products more user friendly and easier to install and use. In total, Jim Haflinger has over 30 years of experience designing a wide variety of products, including SCSI interfaces and diagnostic equipment, data management tools, and switching power supplies for medical applications. Haflinger holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Santa Clara University and owns over a dozen patents on a variety of technologies. He is a member of IEEE (The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and the Electric Auto Association and is the author of the 2nd edition of "Making SCSI Work". Recently, the company raised over $1.3 million in crowdfunding for their new SuperBase Pro power station. This year at CES, Zendure set up a high-tech camping experience for visitors and debuted even more energy storage solutions and solar power generators and has plans to further expand into sustainable energy and home power management. Gen X Energy and ACE Enexor Agree to Jointly Develop LNG and Green Hydrogen Fueled Power Plant in the Philippines

Gen X Energy enters into a joint venture with ACE Enexor Inc., a subsidiary of AC Energy Corp., to develop Batangas Clean Energy, Inc.’s 1,100 MW combined cycle power plant project. The project will be capable of using natural gas and green hydrogen as its fuel to provide firm power to the grid to meet the Philippines’ growing energy demand and reduce the country's reliance on coal fired power generation. The joint venture will result in Gen X Energy and ACE Enexor each holding a 50% interest in BCE. Electreon Signs a Commercial Agreement With Electra Afikim––Israel's Fourth Largest Bus Operator

Electreon (TASE: ELWS.TA), the leading provider of wireless and in-road electric vehicle (EV) charging technology, has signed an agreement of cooperation with the public transportation company Electra Afikim. As part of the agreement, Electreon will provide Electra Afikim with wireless charging infrastructure that will enable simultaneous charging of 30 buses, 24 hours a day. The deal is a result of a call for proposals issued by Israel’s National Public Transportation Authority in the Ministry of Transportation to public transport operators, to procure and establish infrastructure to electrify buses. The ministry was a partner in arranging the parking lot for electric charging with the Rosh HaAyin municipality, and invested about $2.9 million in the project. As part of the agreement Electreon will provide maintenance, support and operation services for the next 12 years. The cost of the deal is $1.9 million; it will cover the fleet's activity, and includes 30 buses. In addition, Electra Afikim will bear the cost of the electricity. Electra Afikim is the fourth largest bus operator in Israel with roughly 1,400 buses. The municipality of Rosh Hain played a key role in the agreement as part of it policy to promote clean electric transportation in the rapidly growing city This is the second commercial deal signed by Electreon in Israel. The previous, with Dan bus company in October 2021, and includes the sale of wireless charging services for 200 buses. The company estimates that the Electra Afikim agreement has potential for future expansion, including a significant chance of replication with other operators from Israel and abroad. The deal was done in accordance with the Ministry of Transportation's decision to change the face of public transportation in Israel, as part of its ban on the introduction of polluting buses from 2025. The support of the Ministry of Transportation is important especially since the ministry is the entity that finances the public transportation activity in Israel, and the entity that approved the use of Electreon’s wireless charging.
