UK local authority to produce all electricity from solar
Renewable Energy World | March 01, 2019
Two large-scale solar farms are set to make Warrington Borough Council the first local authority in the UK to produce all its own electricity from clean energy. Solar and storage company GRIDSERVE is to build the solar farms in a deal worth more than £60m. They will be the biggest to be built in the UK since 2016. Construction of the first 34.7 MW hybrid solar farm, plus 27 MW of battery storage at York – the largest at any UK solar farm – is due to start imminently. This is due to be followed by a 25.7MW solar farm at Hull.
