UK start-up out to cause green power Ripple

UK start-up Ripple Energy has launched a crowdfunding campaign to take forward its “unique” plan to offer consumer ownership of clean power assets combined with energy supply tariffs. The campaign launched on European investment platform Seedrs aims to raise at least £750,000 for 23.21% of the company. Ripple wants to secure consented wind farms, establish ownership Community Benefit Societies and manage construction and operations. The company will partner with existing licensed green energy suppliers to supply the electricity from the assets to co-owners’ homes via “unique tariffs”, it said. The fundraising will enable Ripple to grow its team, complete development of the ownership platform and market the first pilot wind farm project later in 2019 followed by a full-scale wind farm in early 2020, it added.
