Wind+solar team push corporate buyers to support transmission

The Wind Solar Alliance has launched with a focus on driving renewable energy by shaping market rules related to utility procurements, and transmission planning. Their first report focuses on corporate renewable procurement and its influence and dependence on transmission policy. There once was a study that highlighted a path to 80% wind+solar with 12 hours of batteries, but within that university research was another model one that included 100% wind+solar with minimal amounts of energy storage if the United States were to build nationwide high voltage direct current (HVDC) power lines.
