Solar Cars Role In The Future Of Mobility

October 24, 2017

In October 2017, bright minds from all over the world will gather in Australia for the World Solar Challenge.1 There, student teams will compete in a 3,000 km traverse across the Australian desert with solar cars they developed. Inspired by one of the competing teams, Solar Team Eindhoven (Eindhoven University of Technology [TU/e]), the joint team of Ecofys and Navigant took a closer look at trends for EVs in this white paper, and, more specifically, discuss the potential of electric solar vehicles.

Sustainable power grids

whitePaper | January 9, 2023

Stricter environmental and safety regulations, pressure to shift to green energy sources, and a retiring workforce all present significant challenges for today’s power grid operators. Transmission and distribution companies must create a more resilient, dynamic grid, capable of handling increased load and the complexity that distributed energy resources (DERs) will add. New digital tools that enable operators to collect and organize data can help transmission and distribution companies face these challenges by addressing three major imperatives.

Smart Consumers in the Internet of Energy: Flexibility Markets & Services from Distributed Energy Resources

whitePaper | November 28, 2019

In light of new EU market rules adopted as part of the Clean Energy Package, responsive and energy-efficient consumers are likely to play a crucial role in the challenging transition to a low carbon energy system. This is especially true for smart consumers who have access to distributed energy resources (DER) assets, such as demand response, solar photovoltaics, storage, electric vehicles and heating appliances. With the ‘internet of energy’, interconnected smart consumers can trade on both sides of the market, either directly or through an intermediary such as an energy service provider, an aggregator or an energy community.
