CORPORATE RENEWABLE PROCUREMENT AND TRANSMISSION PLANNING

October 17, 2018

Large U.S. companies are acting on their renewable energy goals at a record pace, procuring nearly 4 gigawatts (GW) of utility-scale wind and solar capacity through August of this year.1 That total already exceeds the previous record for a full year, set in 2015, by nearly 750 megawatts (MW).2 The increased demand is largely driven by record-low prices, the price-certainty of long-term contracting, and the environmentally-friendly attributes of the two technologies.

Changing the current How utilities are removing barriers & energizing smart infrastructure

whitePaper | January 12, 2023

Decarbonization coupled with the rise of renewables and government mandates have put pressure on utilities to diversify their energy sources. As federal investments in renewable infrastructure increase and the dynamics in energy market policies change, utilities are poised to incorporate distributed energy resources (DERs) onto their grids like never before. The combination of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) orders 841 and 2222 and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) standards 1547 (2018) and 2030 (2011) stand as powerful enablers to create smart infrastructure to better balance and manage the grid of the future.

Energy System Efficiency: How to maximise the contribution of consumers to cost-effectively accelerate the clean energy transition

whitePaper | October 21, 2022

smartEn has engaged in an internal exercise to provide answers to these questions. We are convinced that a more efficient energy system is possible, with active consumers at its heart. Consumers must be enabled to contribute to an acceleration towards an efficient, secure and fully decarbonised energy system, instead of being the passive victims of a centralised and fossil-dependent energy system. This is possible if consumers of all types - from households to industrial players.
