FUTURE ENERGY WHITE PAPER

September 20, 2018

The “ASIC revolution” in the technology used for bitcoin-mining is about to come to an end. ASIC’s chip format for mining is coming close to the nanometre limit of Moore’s Law. For this reason, substantial future growth in the production of the chips is impossible. This results in the commoditization of chips, meaning they become simple commodities in the eyes of the market or consumers and suddenly drop in value. This will result in manufacturers being forced to concentrate on mass production in order to profit from volumes, rather than utilising technological advances.

Energy System Efficiency: How to maximise the contribution of consumers to cost-effectively accelerate the clean energy transition

whitePaper | October 21, 2022

smartEn has engaged in an internal exercise to provide answers to these questions. We are convinced that a more efficient energy system is possible, with active consumers at its heart. Consumers must be enabled to contribute to an acceleration towards an efficient, secure and fully decarbonised energy system, instead of being the passive victims of a centralised and fossil-dependent energy system. This is possible if consumers of all types - from households to industrial players.

Green H2 investments from buzz to Boom

whitePaper | September 18, 2022

Decarbonising our societies and economies is arguably the biggest challenge of this century. However, large parts of industry, agriculture or sea transport cannot be decarbonised directly with green electricity. Green hydrogen is therefore key to bringing their CO2 emissions to net zero. As this view becomes increasingly established, green H2 project announcements are skyrocketing. Consequently, green hydrogen is also gaining in importance for investors.

Policy to Enable Green Hydrogen in Ireland

whitePaper | August 1, 2022

Decarbonising the transport sector has begun with the adoption of battery electric vehicles, and they will take us a long way to full decarbonisation. But commercial users tell us there are use cases where battery vehicles will not be appropriate for them. We outline policy actions that can enable hydrogen for mobility and begin to develop the wider hydrogen ecosystem in Ireland.

Achieving carbon-neutral IT systems with Kubernetes,Operator, and Rust

whitePaper | January 12, 2023

To address climate change, countries around the world have set a goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. This presents a challenge for the IT industry, because with the dizzying progress of the information society, power consumption of data centers is expected to increase around 850 times by 2050. As a result of these targets, the index of CO2 emission has begun to be adopted as an evaluation point of IT systems.

Integrated energy production

whitePaper | November 14, 2022

This white paper aims to highlight the changes in the global energy industry. These are immense, but have the advantage that in addition to the challenges and adjustments in the previous model, they can also bring great opportunities for the future. Opportunities for business models that can be newly built or integrated into the existing one. We want to provide food for thought, especially for sectors such as national and municipal energy supply companies, but also planning offices, which can seize opportunities for the future here.
