Offshore Wind Market Report: 2022 Edition

January 17, 2023

offshore-wind-market-report-2022
In the United States, commercial-scale offshore wind energy deployment is at an early stage with only 42 megawatts (MW) generating power; however, the domestic industry is poised for an exponential increase in new installations after the first large commercial projects advanced to the construction phase in 2021–2022. Over the past 20 years, offshore wind energy got a head start outside the United States with the help of coordinated European offshore wind energy incentives.

The new energy landscape Impact on and implications for European ports

whitePaper | July 20, 2022

The energy transition is very high on the agenda of Europe’s ports. Being at the same time important economic players and mission driven entities, ports want to be a partner in decarbonising both port activities and the supply chain. Beyond that, ports can also contribute positively to a sustainable economy as clean energy hubs. While the core business of Europe’s ports remains to connect maritime and hinterland transport for goods and passengers in their function as crucial nodes in the supply chain, ports can play an instrumental role in Europe’s new energy landscape. Many ports have already taken concrete steps in that direction. Many others are exploring opportunities. The possibilities are very diverse, so are the ports

Battery storage Stability for the energy transition

whitePaper | November 29, 2022

Renewables are expected to account for 80–90% of power generation globally by 2050. Due to their dependence on weather conditions, wind and solar power cannot provide constant baseload power during all hours of the day, and measures have to be taken to compensate for this intermittency. The good news is that such imbalances or fluctuations can be mitigated effectively using battery energy storage systems (BESSs).

Toward a new energy system: A holistic view of how we can shape the energy transition together

whitePaper | April 4, 2022

Energy is the beginning of everything, the basis of civilizational development and the foundation of all economic progress. To make it future proof, we need a balance of affordability, reliability, and sustainability. This includes a phase-out of coal, the expansion of renewables, the further development of H₂-capable gas power plants and grid stability services, as well as storage solutions that step in when the wind isn’t blowing and the sun isn’t shining. Together, these steps and technologies can ensureenergy security and make a decarbonized energy system possible.
