SITING RENEWABLE GENERATION: THE NORTHEAST PERSPECTIVE

March 28, 2018

The Northeastern U.S. is simultaneously home to the most ambitious regional renewable energy goals and the most constrained lands in the U.S. This paper builds upon past work on siting policy to examine siting solutions tailored to meet renewable energy demand in a land-constrained region. Along with creative new approaches to renewables siting, the paper examines four approaches to reduce the need for land-intensive utility-scale renewable.

The Hydrogen Economy

whitePaper | October 10, 2022

Climate change and geopolitical turmoil require a radical transformation of today’s fossil fuelbased economy into a renewable energy system. Electricity generation from wind and solar is subject to strong daily and seasonal fluctuations. The potential to produce green electricity also varies greatly geographically. In this context, hydrogen provides an optimal solution for bridging the gap between the volatile generation and the need to supply green energy on-demand across all sectors.

Green Innovations of Antennas

whitePaper | May 16, 2022

Energy saving has become one of the most discussed topics of green development. Antennas, especially passive antennas, do not directly consume DC or AC electric energy, leaving them easily overlooked when energy saving is discussed. However, as unique devices that convert between radio frequency (RF) energy and electromagnetic waves, antennas transmit the RF energy to mobile devices. The efficiency in which the antennas convert energy has a significant bearing on the power consumed by base stations

Energy System Efficiency: How to maximise the contribution of consumers to cost-effectively accelerate the clean energy transition

whitePaper | October 21, 2022

smartEn has engaged in an internal exercise to provide answers to these questions. We are convinced that a more efficient energy system is possible, with active consumers at its heart. Consumers must be enabled to contribute to an acceleration towards an efficient, secure and fully decarbonised energy system, instead of being the passive victims of a centralised and fossil-dependent energy system. This is possible if consumers of all types - from households to industrial players.
