Solar-Thermal and Hybrid Photovoltaic-Thermal Systems for Renewable Heating

May 24, 2017

The energy sector is in transition worldwide because of increasing demand for energy; significantly fluctuating oil prices; stronger desire for energy supply security and independence; and in response to sustainability, conservation, and environmental considerations. In 1992, the Rio Convention on Climate Change1 established a framework for actions aimed at reducing fossil-fuel consumption and limiting associated emissions. In 2015, over 190 countries signed a legally-binding agreement at the Paris Climate Conference2 with the intention of keeping the rise in the average global temperature below 2 °C 3. The mass deployment of renewable and low-carbon energy technologies has the potential to make important contributions towards these goals.

The changing approach to renewable energy

whitePaper | December 19, 2019

The transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy is well underway and many businesses are responding well. Despite this, the market still faces challenges in the form of feed-in tariffs, power quality problems, planning permission and the threat from cheap imports of renewable technology. Businesses that are looking to make the transition unscathed in the next few years need to start thinking of renewable energy differently.

Rules for an Energy-Secure Global Green Hydrogen Economy

whitePaper | November 9, 2022

Hydrogen is not just another fuel. Hydrogen is expected to serve as a primary industrial fuel in the 21st century, just as coal drove the 19th century and oil drove the 20th century. Decarbonised hydrogen produced by splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen using renewable electricity (‘green’ hydrogen) or other low-carbon variants that sequester carbon emissions – could be a gamechanger in strengthening energy security and powering the energy transition.
