Wind in power 2017

February 13, 2018

Europe installed 16.8 GW (15.6 GW in the EU) of gross additional wind power capacity in 2017, marking a record year on annual installations. With a total net installed capacity of 168.7 GW, wind energy remains the second largest form of power generation capacity in Europe, closely approaching gas installations.

Leyden Energy

Leyden Energy was founded in 2007 to develop a high-performance lithium ion cell based on a technology patent wholly acquired from chemical giant Dupont. This technology served as the foundation for subsequent Leyden Energy research that led to the Li-imidetm chemistry platform: a heat resistant, energy-dense, durable battery cell technology that is now Leyden Energy’s core offering.

Battery storage Stability for the energy transition

whitePaper | November 29, 2022

Renewables are expected to account for 80–90% of power generation globally by 2050. Due to their dependence on weather conditions, wind and solar power cannot provide constant baseload power during all hours of the day, and measures have to be taken to compensate for this intermittency. The good news is that such imbalances or fluctuations can be mitigated effectively using battery energy storage systems (BESSs).

Special Report on Solar PV Global Supply Chains

whitePaper | August 25, 2022

Solar PV is a crucial pillar of clean energy transitions worldwide, underpinning efforts to reach international energy and climate goals. Over the last decade, the amount of solar PV deployed around the world has increased massively while its costs have declined drastically. Putting the world on a path to reaching net zero emissions requires solar PV to expand globally on an even greater scale, raising concerns about security of manufacturing supply for achieving such rapid growth rates – but also offering new opportunities for diversification.

Greenhouse gas mitigation scenarios for major emitting countries

whitePaper | October 9, 2022

Our findings suggest that emissions are on the way to reach pre-pandemic levels. Of the 25 countries analysed, emissions under current policies have increased from 36.3-36.8 GtCO2e in 2020 to 37.2- 38.1 GtCO2e in 2021; this translates to a rebound of 2.5-3.5% since the COVID-19-induced emissions dip observed in 2020. Recent estimates of global CO2 emissions suggest a rebound of between 4.2% and 6.5% in 2021 (Davis et al., 2022; Jackson et al., 2022)
