GE Renewable Energy awarded contract for onshore windfarms in Turkey

GE Renewable Energy has been contracted to deliver equipment for five onshore windfarms located in Turkey. The contract was awarded by Türkerler and RT Enerji. GE Renewable Energy will supply 49 of its 3MW platform onshore wind turbines. They will be installed located in Izmir, Bilecik, Sakarya and Istanbul. RT Enerji and Türkerler said in a statement: “GE, RT Enerji and Türkerler have built a strong relationship, and we are very happy to be working together again. We have been heavily engaged in helping Turkey work toward its sustainable energy targets, and these windfarms are yet another step in the right direction. “Turkey is ranked among the richest countries in the world in terms of renewable energy resources. We are pleased and proud of this investment in order to meet the energy needs of future generations and to minimise the damage to the environment.” ... With a total capacity of 158MW, the project is expected to generate enough clean electricity that will be sufficient to power 183,000 homes in the region. Additionally, GE Renewable Energy has signed a ten-year servicing agreement and its LM Wind Power factory will manufacture 147 blades in Bergama, Izmir and the towers and generators will also be manufactured in Turkey.
