MCS Industries Announces Commissioning of Solar Power Generating System

MCS Industries, Inc., the U.S. market leader for picture frames, poster frames, mirrors, wall décor, and architectural and decorative moldings for home construction and home improvement markets, is proud to announce the commissioning of an 894 kW roof mounted solar power generating system at their new and distribution facility in Easton, PA. 


The 894 kW solar system is expected to generate approximately 1.1 MWhs of electricity annually, avoiding the emission of 828 metric tons of CO2, equivalent to removing 167 cars from Pennsylvania's roads per year. This project highlights MCS' pledge to manufacture products for retailers that embody a full product lifecycle approach to cleaner, more sustainable products for consumers. By using solar technology to reduce CO2 emissions and increase the adoption of renewable energy, MCS is promoting environmental conservation and an offset to traditional grid-supplied electricity.

This plant will provide most all of our power needs for our nearly 500,000 square feet of operations in the Lehigh Valley. When not using the power ourselves, the excess will be returned to the Northeast power grid. The payback on a project of this magnitude is measures in tens of years financially, but immediate socially and environmentally.

EPS Styrofoam Recycling

MCS recycles over 10,000,000 pounds of EPS Styrofoam per year. Annually, over 500,000 tons of garbage are sent to U.S. landfills daily. Styrofoam makes up approximately 1,300 tons by weight; which is less than one percent going into U.S. landfills. However, 20-30% of U.S. landfills are made up of Styrofoam due to its low density and light weight. Styrofoam takes approximately 500 years to decompose.

LED Lighting Initiative

MCS's comprehensive corporate investment in the conversion from incandescent to LED lighting saves 300K KWH, which is the equivalent of taking 46 cars of the road every year.

XCMG's XGC15000A Sets New Wind Power Hoisting Record, Supports Low-Carbon Energy Construction

XCMG's (SHE:000425) 1,000-ton crawler crane, XGC15000A, has set a new world record after completing its first single-arm wind power hoisting operation at a height of 172+12 meters for the Jinjiaozhou wind power farm in Qingdao, China. Weighing in at 118 tons the 4.5MW wind power turbine hoisted to a height of 170 meters with the diameter of the impeller reaching 156 meters. It adopts the world-leading prestressed fatigue resistant framed steel pipe wind power tower that greatly increases the height of the wind turbine when compared with the common 120-140 meters flexible tower in the industry, which better utilizes wind resources and increases power generation efficiency. However, the higher installation height posed greater challenges for the crawler crane. The flat and open project site usually experiences strong wind greater than level 5, and the fully prepared construction team quickly completed the operation during a short "wind-free" time window, thanks to the powerful and stable performance of the XGC15000A. "The tower height at this wind farm will reach 180 meters or even above 200 meters, and facing these challenges, we found that XCMG had already taken everything into consideration. We believe XCMG can fully meet our needs in the future," - Di Caijin, who was responsible for the on-site hoisting operation. The successful installation makes the XGC15000A the world's first wind power crawler crane to achieve a hoisting height of 170 meters. China has pledged to reach carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060, and according to the latest analysis from Wood Mackenzie, the country is expected to reach 700GW of cumulative connected wind capacity by 2030 and annual wind and photovoltaic installed capacity needs will reach 100- to 200 million kilowatts, which calls for more wind power projects to be developed at lower costs. In February, XCMG delivered China's largest tonnage wind power reach stacker, XCS70S, which was co-developed and customized by XCMG and CRRC Zhuzhou Institute Wind Power Business Unit. With a rated load of 70 tons, the product has a much broader range of applications and was designed for the hoisting operations of large-scale wind turbines and equipment. It is equipped with exclusive spreaders that increase hoisting and handling efficiency three-fold.
